The Augustijnbierloop is a June race held in Melsen, Merelbeke. It begins and ends at Parochiezaal Melsen, located on Kerkwegel. JC Melsen is the organizer. The race features a straightforward format: a loop of approximately 3 km. Participants can select distances of 3 km, 6 km, 9 km, or 12 km by completing one to four laps. The event is timed, offers changing rooms, and posts results on its website.
The unique aspect of this race is its drink system. For each lap finished, runners receive two Augustijn beers, available as blonde or dark. Soft drinks are an alternative. The maximum number of drinks is eight, corresponding to the full four-lap distance. Individuals not wishing to run can walk one or two laps, also receiving drinks. A children's run is available with 350 m and 700 m options, on-site registration, and a small entry fee.
