Jogging Erpent Village

Jogging Erpent Village is a small road race held in Erpent, Namur, Belgium, offering two distances: 5.36 km or 10.72 km. The shorter course involves a 34-meter climb, while the longer one ascends 68 meters. Both routes present modest elevation changes, neither entirely flat. The event welcomes participants of all ages, with a limit of 300 runners per distance. The route specifics are not extensively detailed, but the organizer advises that some paths are narrow, making strollers and joëlets unsuitable. Dogs are prohibited. Online registration is open from mid-January to late June. On-site registration is possible for an increased fee, provided spots remain available. The advance entry fees are 6 euros for the 5 km and 8 euros for the 10 km.

Triathlon de Namur

Triathlon de Namur takes place in mid-August in Namur, Belgium, offering Sprint and Olympic Distance races on the same day. The Sprint involves a 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run. The Olympic Distance doubles the swim and bike distances, concluding with a 10km run. Sprint participants can compete individually, as a 2- or 3-person relay, or in a handisport category; the Olympic Distance also accommodates individual and handisport entries. The swim begins on the right bank, requiring athletes to depart the main race area with sufficient time for the brief walk to the water. Race morning is active, with participants arriving well before the initial start. Previous editions have attracted nearly 600 participants across both the Sprint and Olympic formats. The event has been a fixture on Namur’s local sports schedule since its inception, with the Olympic Distance being a more recent addition compared to earlier race iterations.

About cycling & running in Namur

Namur Training Notes

Running: Locals run Namur from the Sambre and Meuse up to the Citadel, then drop back through the city centre when the legs want something steadier. Runnin'City links the Citadel with Saint Aubain Cathedral, and Union Royale Namur and Namur Angels give the club scene a proper local spine. Parc de La Plante works for easy Z2, strides, or a soft reset near the water. The route covers 94 km with 130 m of gain, so it sits nicely between base miles and a hilly long run. Grand Trail de Namur anchors the trail side with 60 km, while Champion's Trail, La Gelbressoise, Le Trail Davois, and Jogging Erpent Village keep the calendar busy.

Cycling: Locals ride the rivers first, because the Jambes Loop and the Meuse Valley Path make clean base miles without overthinking the route. Riders climb when they point the bike at the Citadel of Namur, the hills around the citadel, or the Condroz to the south-east. The Condroz gives low hills of about 200 to 300 meters, plus forests and grazing fields, so it suits tempo, gran fondo prep, and punchy intervals. The Tour de Namur circuit runs 6 km with 1,370 m of climbing. Tour de Namur and the Namur cyclo-cross race are the anchor names.

Season: Summer puts Namur into race mode, with Xterra Belgium, Triathlon de Namur, Namuraid, and the Tour de Namur giving runners and riders plenty to aim at. August brings the Belgian Motocross Grand Prix on the first weekend, and the city still feels lively for long rides, brick sessions, and evening runs along the water. September brings the Walloon Festivals, so locals can still stack decent training around town. Winter changes the rhythm without killing it, because cyclocross takes over the hills around the citadel and runners shift toward steady Z2, muddy trail loops, and shorter intervals when the light goes early.
