About this race
The Condor Gravel Challenge guides cyclists across private ranch land in San Benito County, California, featuring routes around the Hollister hills and near Eden Rift Vineyards. This is a supported gravel ride, not a closed-road race. Participants select from approximately 100 km, 75 km, or 55 km routes; the longer two necessitate gravel, cyclocross, or mountain bikes. The event follows a late-spring schedule, with registration fees adjusting from early-bird to standard rates before the ride. Aid stations and mechanical support are provided, allowing riders to concentrate on the dirt roads, ranch climbs, and open stretches without carrying extensive gear.
The longest route, the Condor Epic Challenge, includes over 6,000 feet of climbing within roughly 100 km. The Condor Primal Challenge covers about 75 km with more than 5,300 feet of elevation gain. The Cienega Valley Day Tripper, a 55 km option, permits e-bikes, broadening the event beyond a challenge for seasoned gravel riders. The ride draws inspiration from the historic Condor Classic and benefits the Pinnacles National Park Foundation, with funds directed toward condor conservation and habitat restoration. The event concludes at Paicines Ranch, featuring a festival, food, beverages, and an optional farm-to-table lunch.
