See Dick Run Grand Forks 10

The 10K and 10-mile races begin on the Sorlie Bridge in downtown Grand Forks, North Dakota, providing the See Dick Run Grand Forks 10 a distinct city-center atmosphere from the outset. This is the sixth running of the race weekend organized by the Grand Forks Running team, offering three options: a Friday evening Altru Beach Party 5K, and Saturday morning 10K and 10-mile road races. The 5K offers a more relaxed pace with a run/walk format, optional water features, and other playful obstacles along the Greenway adjacent to the Red River. The longer races depart downtown, proceed along University Avenue, traverse the University of North Dakota campus, loop back toward downtown, and utilize the greenways of both East Grand Forks and Grand Forks. Both races conclude at the flood obelisk near Town Square, placing the main races close to the downtown area where participants can enjoy music and additional race-weekend activities. Proceeds benefit charities the organizers have supported for over 12 years, lending the weekend a local running event feel with a community focus rather than simply a collection of race distances.

Nepomuk Narly

Nepomuk Narly is a gravel grinder bike race and family fun weekend in Pisek, North Dakota, held on the third weekend in July. The riding options include three race distances plus a family ride. The 100-, 40-, and 16-mile races begin and end in front of St. Johns Church. The family ride starts near County Road 15 and the city park, placing the event between the race start area and downtown Pisek. The town hosts riders, spectators, and families during the racing. Downtown Pisek becomes the festival area, featuring face painting, games, a petting zoo, train rides, inflatables, a dunk tank, bike drawings, craft vendors, classic cars, motorcycles, tractors, ice cream, and food trucks. The first Nepomuk Narly took place in October after Father Jason Lefor proposed the bike-race concept to the city council; it later moved to its current July weekend. Riders can find lodging with free primitive camping on site, first-come host families, and showers at the event.

About cycling & running in Grand Forks

Grand Forks Training Notes

Running: Locals run Grand Forks from the Greenway first. The 21-mile paved path follows the Red River and Red Lake River, and it keeps base miles simple without leaving town. The Greenway runs 82 km and gains +87 m, so steady Z2 feels natural. Red River Runners keeps the scene connected, and the Grand Forks Running team shows up around race weekend. Riverside Park gives the Turkey Trot 5K a familiar start. See Dick Run Grand Forks 10, GF10 Weekend, Frozen Feat 5/10K, and the Altru Family YMCA Firecracker 5K & 10K Fun Run/Walk give locals anchor races.

Cycling: Locals ride the same Greenway when they want easy spins, bridge loops, and safer miles near home. The Ski and Bike shop builds the group-ride pulse for road cycling, mountain biking, and gravel riding. The route runs 2 miles and stays mostly gravel. The loop runs 3 miles and feels right for a long gravel day. The route runs 8 miles and stays mostly gravel. Turtle River State Park sits twenty miles west on US Highway 2, and Turtle River holds the singletrack and bomb awesome hills.

Season: Summer gives Grand Forks its best training window. The sun stays out long enough that locals can work a full day, drive to Turtle River State Park, and still ride three hours in the summer evening glow. The Greenway attracts walkers and bikers in summer, and the Grand Forks Bike Share Program adds 60 free bikes in warmer months. The city centre keeps Town Square Grand Forks close to race energy. Winter changes the rhythm without ending it. The Greenway stays maintained for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Red River Runners rents the UND Higher Performance Center on select January, February, and March dates.
